World War Z Review

Brad Pitt stars as Gerry Lane

Brad Pitt stars as Gerry Lane

Directed by: Marc Forster

Written by: Matthew Michael  Carnahan (screenplay), Drew Goddard (screenplay).

Starring: Brad Pitt, Mireille Enos, Daniella Kertesz, James Badge Dale.

Marc Forster who directed Machine Gun Preacher and The Quantum of Solace, takes on this zombie flick, which was produced by Brad Pitt (who would’ve thought it?) Anyway, World War Z is based on the 2006 novel by Max Brooks and my guess is that the book is ten times better.
What is it about?
United Nations employee Gerry Lane (Brad Pitt), is called upon when the world is under threat due to a Zombie pandemic which is threatening the human race.
I would strongly advise seeing World War Z in 3D, i know some strongly despise the format, however the scare is far greater when they pop out of the screen.
I couldn’t help but feel like i have seen it all before, probably because it has all been done before. The only thing that makes this slightly different is the twist. I wont tell you what it is, but, it is pretty smart.
The characters are fairly likeable, asides from his wife who really does not consider anything. (You will witness this for yourself if you decide to see WWZ).

Who left their shoes on the staircase?

Who left their shoes on the staircase?

My favourite scene,  the airplane scene, which some of you have seen a snippet of in the trailer, i sat in my chair thinking,
“That would be the worst flight ever”
It was jumpy, it was not scary.
It wasn’t the most violent of zombie flicks, i kinda wish it had more, and at times i found myself laughing at the zombies characteristics. (I’m just being really picky) If like me, you’re a fan of “The Walking Dead”, then you should lower your expectations.
I’ve been brutally honest and quite negative so far.. so time to switch into positivity mode before the “OMG IT WAS AMAZINGGGGG” people yell at me.
Yes, it was good. The effects were brilliant and the zombie transitions were pretty awesome, it did have some horror value and at times it made my brain panic, i would see it again but..
I have seen better and to be frank, some parts of the film didn’t gel very well… and i would like to see something other than zombies…the idea has been eaten, puked up and regurgitated, its been recycled time and time again.
Here’s the trailer, check it out.
