This Is The End Review

this-is-the-endWritten By: Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg (screenplay)

Directed By: Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen

Starring: Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, James Franco, Jay Baruchel, Craig Robinson and Danny McBride.

This is the end, when Jay visits best friend and fellow actor Seth Rogen, he is dragged to James Franco’s for a house party, and before they know it they’re facing the apocalypse together and must overcome their creative differences to survive.

I think for most, this looked hilarious, why wouldn’t it be funny? It is actors making fun of themselves and their glamorous lifestyle.  We get to see them act in the most absurd ways; Michael Cera is a great example.

Plus, when this bunch comes together, the dialogue is just random, crude, comedy gold.

Usually you assume that the trailer shows all the funny parts, leaving you unsatisfied with the rest of the film. But I would say that this wasn’t this case this time, my expectations were met. If you love the actors that the movie features, you will find them funny, no matter what they say or do.  Each actor gave a hilarious performance, but the two who stole the show were definitely Craig Robinson and Danny McBride.

However what I didn’t prepare for was just how absurd some of the content would be, I know, I know, you’re all probably thinking, “Those guys are nuts, how could you not realise it would be mental?”

Well I’ll tell you, I didn’t think it would go as far as it did. I was quite shocked, what started off as strong comedy, making me laugh at almost everything.

Then it let itself down slightly towards the end, when it got a little bit too silly, and to be frank, a little bit blasphemous. I most definitely wouldn’t recommend it for the easily offended and if you still want to see it, you know to expect it.

Blasphemous or was it just harmless fun?

You decide.

Asides from the slight inappropriate references to the bible, I must give credit, it was hilarious. Nice to see a lot of celebrities making cameos, their short – lived performances were appreciated…

Especially Channing Tatum…mmmhmmm that boy is fine!

I mean I love how he doesn’t take himself seriously.this-is-the-end4

Emma Watson gets angry, Rihanna gets aggressive, apparently with each take Michael Cera’s face suffered more each time she had to repeat the slap… constant ass grabbing proved to be little annoying for the singer.

This Is The End… of our insanity.
